Anna Bligh and misinformation

Anna Bligh has been caught again being very loose with the truth whilst throwing accusations of misinformation. refer news article "Thats not reality but this is"

In recent letters from Anna Blighs' office to those of us who have signed a petition the very size of the development has been played down. Supposedly only 1ha (8%) of the existing 12ha Doug Jennings Park.

Where is the provision for the numbers of buses required to ferry large numbers of Cruise passengers.

What about fuel storage facitilites, water and waste?

Government documents indicate a 20% PA growth. The letter states only 30 ships in the first year. Just how many ships would 30 be compounded by 20% over 10 years?

The EIS process is questionable at best where a preferred development has not been chosen. So it is an EIS on what may occur but it is expected to be finished by mid 2006?

The whole process of this EIS is a conflict of interest. The Government Department of State Development is the proponent and the Government Coordinator General is the assessor.

It is also evident in the process that some parties, namely various developers seeking to develop the yacht marina and commercial/residential development on crown land, have been given an unfair advantage in having access to the Premier, Peter Beattie and Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Anna Bligh. Representatives of community groups and large sectors of the community have been denied such access and have been fobbed off onto high ranking public servants. The only conclusion the community can draw from this is that the entire project is already biased in favour of the development industry.

1 to 2 hours ( probably more ) during arrival and departure of ships where access to surfers, fishers and the boating community is denied. This is outragous - can you imagine wanting to carry out your usual pastime eg. surfing at Straddie and not being able to go. Think about fighting through total grid lock on our roads only to find the Seaway inaccessable and enforced by a Port Authority.

What if there is a sudden change in the weather and pleasure craft are left to the mercy of open waters?

Military vessels have not been mentioned in Anna Blighs' letter yet they are not ruled out with it apparently being left to the developers as to how these will be accomadated.

Recently when Anna Bligh had been caught wanting again with the truth her defenders countered - she just did not have the facts.

This whole process is flawed and we will leave history to judge just who is misinforming who. There are many of us who simply do not trust Anna Bligh and Peter Beattie to do the right thing by us on this issue.
